The trail on day one features a mix of gradual uphill and downhill rocky paths, alongside several suspension bridges. Encountering mules, yaks, and jhokpas is a common sight along the route. We've meticulously planned this day to be the easiest of the trek, focusing on your safety with regular stops, a wellcharted path, and our experienced guides. Our first stop will be Chheplung, a traditional village in the region. Lunch will be served at Thado Koshigaon (2,580m/8,464ft). We will have a little late start after breakfast. We will follow the same trail we followed the day before for the first 30 minutes of the start; then, we will head towards the left side, separating the trail between Nagarjun Hill and Lobuche. The trail will be a gradual climb with an open grassland space. The range of mountains will start getting more expansive as we approach the trail ahead. We will see the eagleeye view of Pheriche Village on the way. After about 2 hours of the trek, we will arrive at Thukla, where we will stop for lunch. This point will be very crowded as it's a familiar spot for lunch for people approaching from different sides of the trails.

After lunch there will be approx. 40 mins of steep rocky climb until Thukla Pass where we will see the Memorials of Mountaineers who lost their lives climbing the mountains of this region. This is a significant and solemn moment, and we will stop there for snacks and picture sessions, taking a moment to reflect on the courage and sacrifice of these mountaineers. We will then follow the rocky trail towards Lobuche.

After we reach Lobuche we will have our tea and food. Lobuche is a very small village filled with small tea houses and restaurants. Useful information

Before setting out on the Everest Base Camp Trek, a little preparation goes a long way. This is an iconic Himalayan journey where altitude, weather, trail conditions and daily trekking pace can shape your experience. Here are the key things to know before you begin:

Altitude & Acclimatization

  • The trek reaches Everest Base Camp at 5,364m, with the highest trekking viewpoint, Kala Patthar at around 5,545m.

  • Proper acclimatization is essential as you gain altitude gradually.

  • Acclimatization days are normally included at Namche Bazaar (3,440m) and Dingboche (4,410m).

  • Walk at a comfortable, steady pace and allow your body time to adjust.

  • Stay hydrated and inform your guide immediately if you experience persistent headache, dizziness, unusual fatigue, nausea or difficulty breathing.

Packing & Equipment

  • Bring comfortable, well-broken-in trekking boots with good grip.

  • Pack warm layers, thermal wear, a waterproof jacket and trousers, gloves and a warm hat.

  • Sunglasses, sunscreen and lip balm are important at higher elevations.

  • Carry a reusable water bottle or hydration system and water purification options.

  • Trekking poles can provide useful support on steep ascents and descents.

  • A headlamp, personal first-aid supplies and essential medication should be included.

  • A good-quality sleeping bag is highly recommended for cold nights at higher elevations.

  • A comfortable daypack and a properly packed duffel bag will make the trek easier.

Weather & Trail Conditions

  • Mountain weather can change quickly, even during the best trekking seasons.

  • Lower sections may be relatively mild, while higher elevations can be cold, windy and snowy.

  • Trails can become slippery, muddy or icy depending on the season.

  • Flights to and from Lukla can occasionally be delayed or cancelled due to poor weather.

  • Flexible planning is important because mountain conditions can affect trekking schedules.

Trekking Pace & Fitness

  • The Everest Base Camp Trek is considered a moderate to strenuous high-altitude trek.

  • You should be comfortable walking approximately 5–7 hours a day, depending on the itinerary, altitude and trail conditions.

  • Regular walking, hiking, stair climbing or cardiovascular exercise before the trek will help you enjoy the journey more comfortably.

  • Your guide will maintain a sustainable pace rather than rushing toward the destination.

  • Physical fitness is important, but proper acclimatization is equally essential.

Accommodation & Facilities

  • Accommodation is generally provided in local teahouses and lodges along the route.

  • Rooms are simple and comfortable, with facilities becoming more basic as you ascend.

  • Hot showers, charging facilities and Wi-Fi may be available in many villages but can become limited or more expensive at higher elevations.

  • Carry sufficient Nepali rupees in cash, as ATMs and card facilities are not reliably available throughout the trekking route.

Food & Hydration

  • Teahouses serve traditional Nepali dishes such as dal bhat, as well as noodles, pasta, soups, Tibetan bread and other trekking meals.

  • Eat sufficiently throughout the trek, particularly as your energy requirements increase at altitude.

  • Drink plenty of safe water throughout the day and avoid dehydration.

  • Avoid excessive alcohol at higher elevations as it can interfere with acclimatization.

Permits & Documentation

  • Trekkers require the necessary Sagarmatha National Park entry permit and applicable trekking documentation.

  • The required local trekking registration/permit arrangements should also be completed before entering the Everest region.

  • Keep your passport, travel insurance details and emergency contact information accessible.

  • Peak 15 Adventure will assist with the required trekking arrangements and permits as part of the organized trip.

Responsible Trekking

  • The Everest region is a protected Himalayan environment and home to the Sherpa community.

  • Respect local customs, monasteries, prayer wheels, mani walls and other sacred sites.

  • Carry your waste responsibly and minimize single-use plastics wherever possible.

  • Stay on designated trails and help protect the forests, wildlife and fragile Himalayan environment.

  • Respect local communities and fellow trekkers throughout the journey.

Travel With the Right Mindset

  • The Everest Base Camp Trek is not a race. Some days will be physically demanding, while others allow you to slow down and enjoy the spectacular Himalayan scenery.

  • Be prepared for changing weather, basic mountain facilities and occasional changes to the planned schedule.

  • Come prepared to walk, adapt, learn and experience the Himalayas—not simply to reach Base Camp and take photographs.

At Peak 15 Adventure, preparation is part of the adventure. We plan carefully, trek responsibly and prioritize a safe, comfortable and rewarding experience throughout the Everest Base Camp Trek.

Appreciation Note – Peak 15 Adventure, Kathmandu / Mr. Yogendra
I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to Mr. Yogendra from Peak 15 Adventure, Kathmandu for the excellent, precise and comprehensive organization of my trek to Everest Base Camp. The entire trip was planned down to the smallest detail and became a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The choice of trekking staff – guides and porters – was outstanding: professional, attentive and very caring. The route itself was special, well thought-out and challenging in just the right way, allowing me to enjoy the scenery, acclimatize properly and feel safe throughout.I would also like to thank him for arranging the Bhutan part of my journey – permits, flights, guides and local logistics – all handled quietly in the background so that I could focus on the experience.Throughout the process I truly felt that every small detail was taken care of and that my full satisfaction was a genuine priority.Thank you very much, Yogendra, and my warm recommendation of Peak 15 Adventure.
