A Remarkable Himalayan Journey with Peak 15 Adventure | October 2026
In October 2026, French mountaineer Catherine successfully climbed Putha Hiunchuli (7,246m), also known as Dhaulagiri VII, located in the remote Dolpo region of western Nepal.
Organized by Peak 15 Adventure under the leadership of Yogendra Tamang, the expedition combined challenging high-altitude climbing with an unforgettable journey through the beautiful landscapes of Dolpo.
The Journey Through Dolpo
Catherine began her journey in Kathmandu, travelling via Nepalgunj to Juphal before starting the trek towards Dunai.
The route continued through Tarakot, Mushi Khola and Kagkot, passing traditional villages, river valleys, forests and spectacular Himalayan landscapes.
After completing acclimatization walks, she reached German Base Camp (4,700m) on October 11 and Putha Hiunchuli Base Camp (4,900m) on October 12.
Acclimatization and Summit Preparation
Catherine progressively climbed to higher camps to prepare for the summit attempt.
- Camp I: 5,480m
- Camp II: 6,250m
- Acclimatization hike: 6,650m
Despite strong winds and freezing temperatures, the mountain conditions gradually became suitable for the summit push.

Summit Success – October 21, 2026
Catherine started her final ascent around midnight from Camp II, accompanied by Sherpas Pasang and Temba.
With temperatures reaching approximately -35°C and winds of around 35 km/h, the climb demanded considerable physical and mental endurance.
At approximately 9:30 AM on October 21, Catherine successfully reached the summit of Putha Hiunchuli (7,246m).
One of the most impressive aspects of her achievement was that she completed the ascent without supplemental oxygen, enjoying a spectacular 360-degree view of the surrounding Himalayan mountains.

A Safe Return and Successful Expedition
After reaching the summit, Catherine safely descended through Camp II and Camp I, returning to Base Camp on October 22.
The Peak 15 Adventure team welcomed her with a special congratulatory cake to celebrate her achievement.
She then retraced her route through Kagkot, Tarakot and Dunai before returning to Kathmandu on October 26.
A Journey to Remember
Catherine's successful ascent of Putha Hiunchuli was a remarkable achievement built on determination, preparation and teamwork.
Peak 15 Adventure is proud to have organized and supported this expedition. We sincerely congratulate Catherine and thank her for trusting our team to be part of her Himalayan journey.
Every summit tells a story. This is Catherine's story of determination and success in the Himalayas.
