Trip overview
Paldor Peak stands at the southeastern end of the Ganesh Himal range, near the junction of the Tiru and Karpu ridges above the Mailung Khola valley. It is one of Nepal's less-visited mountaineering destinations, offering a unique combination of remote mountain scenery, traditional Tamang culture, and technical climbing.
The expedition starts with a drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, followed by a trek towards Gatlang, a traditional Tamang settlement. The trail crosses Khurpu Bhanjyang Pass (approximately 3,620m) before reaching Somdang (3,270m), a remote mountain settlement beneath Paldor Peak. From Somdang, the route continues through Jasta Khani (3,700m) to Paldor Base Camp (approximately 4,280m).
After acclimatization and technical preparation at Base Camp, climbers move towards High Camp at approximately 4,980–5,000m. The summit route involves loose rocky sections, glacier crossings, and a snow ridge with fixed ropes on steeper or icy sections. The climb requires the use of crampons, ice axes, climbing harnesses, helmets, and other essential mountaineering equipment.
The summit provides impressive views of the Ganesh Himal range, Langtang Lirung, Manaslu and the surrounding Himalayan landscape. First climbed by H. W. Tilman's party in 1949, Paldor remains an appealing objective for mountaineers seeking a less-crowded climbing experience in Nepal.
With experienced climbing Sherpas, professional guides, proper acclimatization, and well-organized expedition logistics, Peak15 Adventure aims to provide a safe, rewarding, and memorable Himalayan climbing experience.
